Lumen underwent surgery to overcome his ballerina’s toes
Lumen, a dog foster, was contacted by the shelter for a puppy with special needs. Lumen’s legs were not in the right form. He had the famous “ballerina feet”, which did not allow him to walk easily. The dog was born in the household of a breeder. But, as
is not a gift for a breeder, he ended up in the shelter.
Lauren immediately agreed to take him in, as she already had experience with a dog with the same disability. It was Lumen, who underwent surgery to fix his legs and already lived with an adopting family. Once the new dog came to Lauren’s family, the woman contacted the Lumen’s owner, to ask her if Lumen could come make some company with her new rescue.
Since then, the two have been inseparable. Lauren wanted to use this chance to get the dog to run around, so she kept cheering up for him to catch Lumen. That was how she came up with the name for the dog. She named him Forest, after Forrest Gump.
Forest too, was going to undergo surgeries to have his paws fixed. They were going to operate on each of his paws, one at a time. Lauren was a bit nervous about that. She did not want to leave Forest alone in the hospital and did not know how he would go through the recovery period.
But everything went very smoothly. Once Forest was back home after the first surgery, Lumen was so happy to welcome him back. Lumen really cheered Forest up, and made him forget about all the discomfort in his paws. That made Lauren realize that she underestimated her dog and that everything was going to be alright with him.
During Forest’s stay in Lauren’s house, Lauren’s boyfriend really bonded with the dog. So he ended up adopting him. This way, Lauren would never miss her new friend. Forest too, would not have to adapt to a new family.
