Different types of geckos differ in size, but not significantly. The smallest are representatives of the Tropicolota genus, whose body length without tail is only 3 centimeters. Next comes the genus of Dwarf geckos, whose length is 4-5 centimeters without a tail and 8-10 centimeters with a tail. The tuberous gecko has even larger parameters. Its body length is 6 centimeters, and its tail can exceed 8 centimeters. Crooked-toed geckos are even larger – up to 30 centimeters long including the tail.
They have a body is slightly flattened and covered with scales similar to tiles. The head is decorated with numerous “shields” of complex shapes. The eyes are large, with a vertical pupil. Eyelids are missing. Their function is performed by a transparent shell that protects the eyes. The tongue is wide, and slightly forked in the front. Its upper part is covered with tiny papillae.
Flies, bedbugs, grasshoppers, spiders, butterflies, ants, and even scorpions are eaten as food. Reptiles also feast on fruits, fruit juice, and nectar.
