Alpacas are grouped into small herds, usually consisting of a single male and 4–10 females. The family has a rigid hierarchy with the rejection of foreign males and an internal struggle for ranks.
There are several species of these animals in the world, similar in appearance to each other. The first are the largest llamas, the guanaco – miniature and shorter in stature, and the vicuñas, which are outwardly distinguished by their smaller size and gracefulness, and the most shaggy are the alpacas.
These animals have existed since ancient times, but outwardly they have not changed. The weight of an adult reaches up to 70 kilograms, and their height grows up to one meter.
